CEREMONIAL HAT GUIDE
If you're looking for an elegant accessory for a special occasion, you should definitely consider a formal hat. A sophisticated hat can be worn by both men and women at events such as weddings, bar mitzvahs, baptisms, graduations, or horse races. Here's our guide to choosing the right formal hat.
What type of ceremonial hat?
There are a variety of formal hats available on the market. Here are some of the most popular options.
The top hat for gentlemen: The top hat is a classic choice for formal occasions. It is often worn with a tailcoat. Men can also wear a top hat with a tuxedo or three-piece suit.
The boater: The boater hat is a flat-brimmed hat, named after its origins as a headgear worn by rowboat sailors in the 19th century. Made from straw, our wide-brimmed boater hat will perfectly complement your summer outfits.
The cloche hat:
The cloche hat is a bell-shaped hat often associated with the 1920s. It is often worn by women with elegant dresses for formal occasions. It is a small accessory that is easy to wear for women who are not used to large hats. Discover the Couture version of our Coco cloche hat, which can be made from felt or parasisal.
The capelines:
Crafted from sisal, straw, and trimmed with feathers or silk flowers, floppy hats are wide-brimmed hats that can be worn with any outfit and style. At Courtois, we create them to measure to perfectly match your colors and personality.
How to wear a ceremonial hat?
Wearing a formal hat may seem intimidating to some people, but in reality, it just requires following a few simple rules.
First, make sure your hat fits properly. It shouldn't be too loose or too tight, or it may fall off or cause discomfort.
Second, choose the right hat for your outfit. If you're wearing a formal suit, a top hat or bowler hat would be an appropriate choice. If you're wearing an elegant dress, a cloche hat or a sisal hat would be a more appropriate choice!
